Cody Schmaltz, DVM
Dr. Cody Schmaltz is a native of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He has actually been working in some capacity at Ponchatoula Animal Hospital since he was 15 years old. Valedictorian of the Ponchatoula High School Class of 2010, he attended Southeastern Louisiana University for his pre-veterinary coursework. Dr. Schmaltz earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.
Dr. Schmaltz is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, and the Florida Parishes Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. His special interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, client education, heartworm prevention, health maintenance, early life care, and humane euthanasia.
In his spare time, Dr. Schmaltz tends to his flock of 25 chickens. He is an avid car enthusiast. His favorite breed of dog is the boxer, and he tries to wear a pair of wacky socks every day.
